Most AI coverage is about models. This one is about the companies using them. HowTheyUseAI documents what real organisations have deployed, in which department, at what cost, and with what result — including the parts that failed.
We cover one industry at a time, in plain language, for the people who have to make these decisions rather than write about them.
Who it's for
Operations managers, department heads and owners at mid-sized companies who keep being told AI matters and cannot find a straight answer about what it looks like in their specific business. You are not a developer. You do not care which model version shipped last week. You care what a company your size, in your sector, actually did.
The four things we publish
Deployment stories
One company, one department, one system. What they deployed, what it cost, how long it took, what changed. Named, with figures the company has confirmed in writing.
Sector briefs
Once a month per industry: what is genuinely in production, what is still pilot theatre, which vendors keep appearing, and what regulation is coming.
Failures
Deployments that were abandoned, rolled back, or cost more than they saved. Almost nobody publishes these. They are the most useful thing we do.
News, with a verdict
When something happens in the market, one short piece saying what it means for a company that is not a technology company — and often that it means nothing.
Editorial rules, written down
§Every deployment story names the company. If they will not be named, we do not run it.
§Every story carries at least one hard number the company has confirmed in writing.
§No vendor pays for coverage, reviews copy before publication, or is quoted without a customer in the same piece.
§We publish the failures of companies we have previously covered favourably.
§If we get a figure wrong we correct it at the top of the piece, dated, and say what changed.
Cadence
Two deployment stories a week per active industry, one sector brief a month, one failure a month. We started with manufacturing and retail because that is where we can call people.
